Lucis raises $20M to make preventive health the standard across Europe

  • The Series A funding, led by Singular, will fuel the expansion of Lucis's AI-powered preventive health companion

  • More than three-quarters of users report improved health markers within six months

  • The platform's 10,000+ users and 1M+ biomarker tests reveal widespread undetected health risks

Paris, France, 26 May 2026: Lucis, a European preventive health platform, has raised a $20 million Series A, led by Singular, with participation from General Catalyst, Y Combinator, and angels including investors behind Runna, Céline Lazorthes (Resilience), and Manu Lecomte.

The round follows Lucis's $8M seed raised four months ago, bringing total funding to $28M. The capital will support expansion across Europe and continued development of its AI-driven health companion app. The raise comes as demand for proactive, data-driven health services continues to grow.

From biomarker data to agency over health

Founded in 2025 by Maxime Berthelot and Baptiste Debever, Lucis provides individuals with a comprehensive, data-driven view of their health. The platform analyses more than 110 blood biomarkers across key systems, including metabolic health, hormones, cardiovascular risk, inflammation, and nutrient levels.

These results feed into an AI-powered health companion app, alongside longitudinal data and medical context, to deliver personalised guidance spanning nutrition, supplementation, lifestyle changes and follow-up testing. Recommendations are continuously refined as new data becomes available and are reviewed by physicians, helping users understand what actions to take, not just what the data shows.

Today, Lucis is powered by a team of 20 across engineering, clinical, growth, and operations, supported by a medical board and a growing network of 10+ physicians providing clinical oversight.

Early data shows strong outcomes and engagement

Early data from Lucis's growing user base of over 10,000 shows both meaningful health outcomes and sustained engagement.

  • Among users who completed a six-month follow-up, 75% improved at least three biomarkers without medication.

  • More than 80% opted to retest, suggesting continued engagement with the platform and their health data.

  • At initial testing, 99.9% of users had at least one biomarker outside optimal ranges, often without prior awareness, highlighting how easily potential health risks can go unnoticed without regular monitoring.

A shift towards preventive, personalised care

Much of Europe's healthcare remains reactive despite a push to focus on preventative care. Around 1.8 million deaths each year are considered avoidable and linked to chronic diseases. In addition, up to 80% of deaths from major conditions such as heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes are preventable, yet testing remains infrequent and rarely tracked over time.

At the same time, rising health awareness and advances in AI are driving demand for more proactive, personalised care. Lucis combines AI with clinical oversight to deliver continuous, individualised guidance. Its platform brings together biomarker data, medical context, longitudinal health data and validated clinical protocols to help users track changes in their health and take action over time.

Maxime Berthelot, Co-founder and CEO, Lucis, said: "We've seen the devastating impact of late-stage diagnosis first-hand. The science is already there; what's missing is a system designed to act before symptoms appear. This is why we built Lucis. By combining biomarker data and AI-driven clinical insights, we can catch what the system misses. Europe deserves a healthcare model that doesn't wait for people to get sick. We are making prevention the default, rather than a privilege."

Jeremy Uzan, Co-Founder & GP at Singular, said: "Europe's preventive health category will be won by platforms that unite clinical credibility with AI at scale. Lucis has moved with remarkable velocity, reaching 10,000 users in under a year, delivering measurable outcomes and building a compounding data advantage that sets the standard for the category. We see Lucis as a clear category winner in Europe and are excited to partner with the team as the product continues to evolve alongside customer needs."

Scaling across Europe

Since launching in 2025, Lucis has grown to more than 10,000 users across France, the UK, Ireland, and Portugal, and has delivered over one million biomarker tests. The company has also built a community of thousands of members and established partnerships with laboratory groups including Eurofins and Randox.

Lucis plans to expand into Spain, Germany, and Italy by the end of 2026, while continuing to invest in personalisation, longitudinal monitoring, and clinical safety.

About the founders

Maxime Berthelot is the CEO and co-founder of Lucis. He brings over 15 years of experience building, monetizing, and scaling consumer internet businesses, with a long-standing focus on health, performance, and longevity. Before Lucis, Max built and sold PixelMe, and went on to found and scale multiple profitable D2C businesses in the health and supplement space. In parallel, he built and operated one of Europe's largest longevity media and community platforms, which later became the foundation for Lucis' early traction.

Baptiste Debever is the co-founder of Lucis. He built and sold his first startup while still in college, then went on to work at Gorgias and WeMaintain, two internationally scaled, venture-backed companies. His interest in preventive health is deeply personal: following the early loss of his father, Baptiste spent several years independently studying functional medicine, biomarkers, and longevity science. At Lucis, Baptiste architected and built the entire platform — including the AI-driven biomarker interpretation engine, clinician review tools, lab integrations, and core data infrastructure.
